We believe what the government says because we have no choice. What ever they say is right and if we disagree with that then we are either considered crazy, morally incorrect, or (my favorite) ‘un-american’.

“We’ve fought the Spanish for the independence of Cuba. Now that we’ve beat them let’s settle American troups in Cuba so that we can pretty much take over the country except we’ll cover that up with excuses like ‘ensuring Cuba’s independence’ and ‘assisting them in organizing their government’. And then to top it off we’ll name this event something fancy like the Platt Amendment so that hopefully everyone will just assume we’re right.”
