Have just read this article; here is a thought on why we have not been back, yet. It’s really a case of ‘been there, done that, got the moon rock’. Okay, so we haven’t got the t-shirt or kiss-me-quick hat, but most space exploration since the moon shots has been concerned with getting a quick pay-back, either military or commercial. Also, since Challenger and Columbia, there is the safety aspect; NASA needs to be very sure of what it is doing.
I am sure that Neil Armstrong et al did go to the moon, and I am sure that we will go back, but only when there is a sound reason for doing so, which scientific advancement, I’m afraid, does not provide.
One would wonder why if NASA brass had been asked to fake the moon (presumably by the Nixon administration), they kept their silence when they were “rewarded” with ever diminishing budgets over the years. If there’s one thing bureaucrats won’t stand for, it’s losing their peice of the budget pie.
We need a simple photo taken FROM earth or at least the HUBBLE, without any kind of STUPID excuse (blured vision cause by the extreme magnification of hubble + proximity of the moon.
This is a very good summary of the whole case, the believers, and the non-believers. You took a very friendly take on both sides, great job!
(I’m writing a research report on this “Moon Hoax” and this page has been very helpful.)
And isnt it a bit odd why there are no succeeding trips to the moon? Aren’t there anymore interesting “finds” not worth going back there? If moon landing was possible how many years have passed, arent we suppose to have thought of a way to travel there for research?
I believe that in Apollo 14, one of the astronauts suits had a tiny leak and the photographs of that astronaut show him with a blue halo around him due to the scattering of the light through oxygen(???- help need a physicist to verify!!)
I cannot believe that anyone would even think of going to the trouble of faking this, it would also cast doubt on the reliability of the suits, so why would NASA want to fake all that?
Of course, it takes a brave man to continue his work with a leak in the suit, and that is what they all were, brave men- why do we want to deny that. America won the space race fairly and squarely with well designed systems ( unfortunately a result of initial tragedy) that weren’t even fully tested when they were sent to put a man on the moon by the end of the 60s.
I am still, to this day, in awe at this achievement.

I would be willing to admit the possibility of faking a moon landing while the entire world is watching would be possible but very difficult , almost as difficult as winning the lottery but people do win the lottery. But to fake it five more times afterwards and get away with it. A person doesn’t win the lottery six times. I’m sorry. People have been watching too many movies. Why people find it so difficult to believe we could have went to the moon is beyond me. All the hoax evidence I’ve seen is nothing more that lighting issues or gravity issues. Conspiracy theorists are nothing more than people that want to believe so badly that there is something big in the world that needs to be proven wrong. I find it amazing that there isn’t one ..not one person that was involved that isn’t wanting to come clean ..even on their deathbed. Conspiracy theorists = drama queen/king
you forgot
Simple answer to the “why haven’t we been back” question: Because there was not enough political justification to keep the program going in the first place, and there hasn’t been enough to justify a return since then. When the public lost interest in the later Apollo landings, and when there were no more political space winners to capitalize on, the political push ended. And JFK dying took some of the wind out of that sail. Plans are now in place, and have been for 20 years to return to the Moon if budgets and political will allowed.
for me the lack of return journeys to the moon is very telling.
if it became mundane somehow to go back because they had been there already, surely they should have started building a base there with a view to colonising it. maybe not much to learn from being on the moon, but wouldnt it have been the best way to train for trips to other planets.
I honestly feel that the landings were hoaxed. i feel america felt pressure not to lose another race with russia and went to any lengths to avoid that scenario.
i believe every time they try to send man to space for real it ends in tragedy with the shuttle explosions etc.
also if our tv satellite dishes are takeing a signal from space. why does the tv guy need a compass to point it north, east , south or west ( depending on your local )
surely the optimum position to recieve a signal from space would be to point the dish directly up through the clouds.

I think it important to separate the idea of whether we went to the moon from the idea that a lot of the photos and communications were fake.
That is logical.
I think if the Moon Landings are real, the only way we’ll know f or real is if and when we do go back there , they will find a U.S flag, a moon buggy and the landing pod that was left there
Could this be the reason we never went back? Also there should be tonnes of human waste up there as well!
