You are correct to be a Freemason one must hold a belief in a Supreme Being or Creator and the immortality of the soul. Be of lawful age and well recommended.
The actual difference between Freemasons and the Illuminati is that Freemasonry exists and the Illuminati do not and have not been in existence since 1789. So it is not possible for them to do any of that malarkey you went on about.
Oh and since Freemasonry came first, they are NOT trying to break away from anything and even when the Illuminati existed (1776-1789) they had nothing to do with each other.
